Tyler Samson

After completing his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University in 2007, Tyler joined Lafarge as a project coordinator and operations manager.  He then began a M.A.Sc program supported by the University of Ottawa and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in the fall of 2010.

Tyler’s master’s research, completed in the fall of 2012 at the University of Ottawa, focused on elemental composition optimisation of gas turbine thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems.  His investigation considered advanced metallic composite materials, atomic to continuum scale mechanics modeling, interfacial fracture behavior of metal/ceramic systems, time and temperature dependent material properties, and oxide formation, growth and performance.
