Daniel MacDonald

In 2010, Daniel began the M.A.Sc. program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa. Daniel is currently nearing completion of his master’s studies, in which he investigated the use of cold gas dynamic spraying for the reparation of aluminum alloy aerospace components and aluminum ion vapour deposited coatings. This research was part of a large collaboration with The Boeing Company and Centerline (Windsor) Ltd.

During his master’s studies, Daniel was also involved with a research project that investigated the use of cold sprayed coatings as corrosion protection for used fuel canisters with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO). He spent 4 months working at their main office in Toronto, Canada. He also provided cold gas dynamic spraying expertise and performed experiments for a collaborative program with Politecnico di Milano and the University of Windsor.

Outside of his studies, he is regularly assists in the teaching of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. He is the current President of the University of Ottawa Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (OMEGA). Daniel is now pursuing a Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. Jodoin.
